19 Top Journalists Honored for Excellence in Economic Reporting

The Economic Reporters Forum (ERF), one of Bangladesh’s largest economic associations, in collaboration with Nagad, the digital financial service of Bangladesh Post Office, has recognized 19 leading journalists for their exceptional contributions to financial reporting. At a grand ceremony, these journalists were awarded for their exemplary work in covering the financial sector.

The “ERF-Nagad Best Reporting Award-2023” event celebrated outstanding economic reports from the past year. Held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka, the awards were presented by chief guest Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, prominent economist and advisor to the Bangladesh government, along with special guest Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, and Nagad’s Chairman of the Board, Dr. K.A.S. Murshid.

Muhammad Badiuzzaman Didar, Administrator of Nagad Limited, members of Nagad’s board, eminent journalists, policymakers, and other distinguished figures were present among others.

The event honored 19 exceptional reports across 17 categories, recognizing the impactful contributions made in economic journalism throughout 2023. Notably, in two categories, four journalists shared awards jointly.

The awardees included Fakhrul Islam Harun (Prothom Alo), Zebun Nesa Alo (The Business Standard), Rajib Ahmed (Prothom Alo), Iqbal Hasan (Channel 24), Mohammad Ismail Ali (Dainik Sharebiz), Ahsan Habib Russell (The Daily Star), Babu Kamruzzaman (News 24), Obaidullah Rony (Dainik Samakal), Sadrul Hasan (UNB), Daulat Akhtar Mala (The Financial Express), Touhid Hossain Papon (Jamuna Television), Md. Shafiqul Islam (Dhaka Post), Sajjadur Rahman (The Business Standard), Arifur Rahman (Prothom Alo), Salahuddin Mahmud (The Business Standard), Ziadul Islam (Amader Shomoy), and Mohammad Jahangir Shah Kajol (Prothom Alo).

The ERF President, Refayet Ullah Mirdha, presided over the event, with a welcoming address by ERF General Secretary Abul Kashem during the panel introductions.
